The Food Science and Technology (FS&T) programmes of the Biosciences, Agriculture and Food Technologies (BAFT) Unit of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) hosted its 6^th Student Showcase and Final Exam on the 13^th March, 2019 at the UTT Valsayn Campus, highlighting student work, innovation, entrepreneurial and event management skills.

The showcase attracted scores of secondary school students, locavores and spectators and allowed the community to recognise the dedication and collaboration that take place throughout the semester as well as the great time and energy which faculty and staff put into well rounded learners. 

As the Food Science and Technology programmes aim to contribute to a sustainable Trinidad and Tobago and promote locally grown and processed food products, this year's theme challenged the students to showcase "Fruits and Roots". Exhibits featured research, displays and novel food products of the current students of Innovative Incubators, Product Development, Capstone and Food Events Management.  The patrons enjoyed products such as Bay Leaf Ice-Cream, Five Finger Chutney, Cassava Biscuits with Paw Paw Jam Filling, Orange, Moringa and Ginger Juice, Sweet Potato Cheesecake, a variety of Root Chips, Beetroot Jam and Cassava, Pumpkin and Moringa Punch just to name a few.

Giveaways, prizes and sponsorship came in part from Holiday Snacks Ltd., BBN Enterprises, Ms. Raveeta Ramdial of IExplore Photographers, Mr. Anil Mungalsingh, Mr. Alan Sookra. A special thank you to these generous individuals and companies for their contribution.
