Third year, part-time Diploma student Akeelee Alexis, recently completed her internship at Caribbean Health Foods Ltd. formerly known as College Health Foods. This company was established on the campus of the University of the Southern Caribbean (formerly CUC) in 1987 and was founded on the mission to manufacture healthy alternatives during a time when healthy lifestyles were emerging in the Caribbean region.

Akeelee states: I was able to apply the knowledge that I have gained from my University education into the operations at Caribbean Health Foods. I was able to multitask in each of the production lines at the institution, such as the bakery, protein line, cookie line, bread line and packaging rooms. My internship experience was invaluable, it afforded me the opportunity to apply my skill set and put all that I have learnt into practice. This course bridged the gap for me between study and the work industry. On that note I can truly testify that my internship objective and aims for the work place were successfully achieved, and I look forward to advancing my skills set further to be able to contribute greatly to my field of study.

She further  indicated that the company is always willing to hire students and provide training.
