The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) Sangre Grande, invited The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) Food Science and Technology programmes to be a part of their World Food Day 2018 activities through its ‘Food Science: Safety and Security Fair' targeted to students, surrounding schools and Sangre Grande environs.
Staff presented on nutrition, the importance of a balanced diet and adopting a sustainable lifestyle. They were also educated about Food Safety, the different types of bacteria present in our well-known ‘street food’ and the precautionary measures to be taken to ensure they decrease the risk of food borne illnesses.
The schools present were enthusiastic to learn about UTT and its exciting programme offerings, which are aimed at contributing to a food secure nation and by extension the Caribbean.
