UTT Outreach and Caribbean Dockyard & Engineering Services Ltd (CDESL) upskill with public procurement competencies.

The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) Outreach and Industry Relations Unit recognises the importance of establishing the standards and requirements for procurement which are critical to promoting the professionalisation of the public procurement function. As a result,  UTT partnered with Caribbean Dockyard & Engineering Services Limited (CDESL) to provide the necessary competencies to manage the complexity of procurement being executed by the company.

This interactive eighteen (18) hour  course entitled ‘Principles of Public Procurement’ focused on understanding the principles and rules of public procurement law and the use of public procurement as a policy tool, implementing best practices when establishing a public procurement regime in the workplace and applying knowledge of procurement governance under the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act 2015. The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act 2015 aims to provide for public procurement, and for the retention and disposal of public property in accordance with the principles of good governance.

Training was delivered at the client’s faciliity at Western Main Road, Port Chaguaramas, Chaguaramas in a classroom-based setting.  Fourteen executive level employees subscribed to the training including person in the following positions: Corporate Secretary, Stores/Inventory Manager,  Chief Financial Officer, ISO Compliance Lead, HR Assistant SNR, HSSE Manager/PFSO, QA/QC Manager, Blasting & Painting   Manager, Stores/Inventory Supervisor and Chief Operations Officer.
