In a bid to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain process within the public service, the Ministry of Public Administration's Public Service Academy has collaborated with The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) Outreach and Industry Relations Unit, to deliver specialised training in Inventory Management and Control. The training aims to review critical aspects of supply chain activities while examining established controls and fraud-prevention measures relevant to inventory management systems.

The training course was designed to expose participants to the fundamentals of Inventory Management and Control, targeted professionals involved in the purchase and issuance of office materials and supplies, including storekeepers, stores clerks, and procurement officers.

The training will be delivered to three groups, each consisting of 25 participants, for a total of 75 individuals. The first group had the privilege of attending the training face-to-face in April 2022 at UTT Chaguanas Campus, gaining valuable insights into the best practices and principles of inventory management and control. Group 2 and Group 3, comprising the remaining participants, are schedule to undergo the training online in May and July 2023, respectively.

By delivering this comprehensive training course, the Ministry of Public Administration's Public Service Academy and the UTT Outreach and Industry Relations Unit have taken a proactive step towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the public service. As participants gain a deeper understanding of inventory management and control principles, it is expected that they will contribute to cost reduction, enhanced service delivery, and gain the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage inventory and streamline supply chain processes, ultimately contributing to the overall improvement of public service operations.
