The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) through the dedication of Mickey Ruben, Massage Therapist, Sport and Recreation Unit, continues to strengthen its presence as a leader in inclusive sport for development.

As a result of his leadership and commitment, Ruben has advanced the University's presence in a series of prestigious national appointments. He was selected as Chef de Mission for Trinidad and Tobago's delegation at the Para Pan Am Youth Games, held in Santiago, Chile. This role also reflected his strategic and athlete-centred approach to sport leadership.

Ruben also served as Team Leader and Head Coach at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India, where he managed the nation's top para-athletes at one of the sport's highest levels of international competition.  Additionally, he represented Trinidad and Tobago as Coach of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix Team, ensuring world-class preparation and performance at the event held in Cali, Colombia.

Beyond his coaching roles, Ruben has contributed to the global development of para sport. He represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Imparables Training Course in Barbados, as well as the Virtus and World Para Athletics "United for Change" Paralympic Sports Festival and Inclusion Fair in the Dominican Republic. He also served as the National Paralympic Committee's Representative at the International Paralympic Committee Classifiers Meeting in Bonn, Germany, playing a vital role in shaping international standards for athlete classification.

UTT congratulates Mr Ruben, as these accomplishments underscore his continued commitment to paralympic sport and athlete advocacy, which in turn support the University's drive for excellence in inclusive sport development.
