Instructors from the Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT) at UTT San Fernando Campus recently came together to share best practices, experiences, and practical tips for developing and managing courses on Moodle, UTT's new Learning Management System (LMS).

The collaborative session forms part of the University's transition from Canvas to Moodle, which will be fully operationalised across the University in Term I of the 2026/2027 academic year. The move represents an important step in strengthening the University's digital learning environment and providing instructors with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively support teaching and learning. This initiative is separate from the support given by TLIS which remains the main support to academics.

The session was led by Jason Dain, Instructor I, under the supervision of Melissa Ramsubir, Senior Instructor, both CICT. Also in attendance were Dionne Goberdhan and Donica Mahabir, both Senior Instructors, CICT, and a specially invited participant Mr Rolly D. Hosein, Senior Instructor, Foundation Courses.

The session provided an opportunity for instructors to engage in meaningful discussions about their experiences with Moodle, share practical approaches to course development, and explore expectations for the effective use of the LMS. The exchange also encouraged collaboration and peer learning, reinforcing the value of a community of practice as UTT continues to enhance its digital teaching and learning capabilities.

Through initiatives such as these, UTT instructors are better positioned to support each other and foster a smooth transition to Moodle and to create engaging, accessible, and effective online learning experiences for students.
