The University of Trinidad and Tobago Centre for Maritime and Ocean Studies(CMOS) proudly congratulates Shiel Williams, a graduate of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Coastal and Ocean Studies, on the publication of her first peer-reviewed research paper in the ISPRS Archives.

Her paper, “Mapping Surface Area Changes in Three Reservoirs on the Island of Trinidad Between 2017 and 2023 Using Sentinel-1 SAR Imagery,”examines how satellite imagery and Google Earth Engine can support affordable and consistent monitoring of Trinidad’s Arena, Navet and Hollis reservoirs.

This significant achievement reflects Shiel’s passion for GIS and remote sensing, while contributing valuable research that can support improved water-resource management in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.

Congratulations, Shiel, on this important milestone! CMOS celebrates your accomplishment and wishes you continued success in your research journey.
