Former UTT Patriots basketball player, Patrick Scipio, has graduated from the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) with a Master of Science in Kinesiology: Sport and Exercise Psychology.

The past UTT basketball captain graduated from UTT in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Sports Studies with specialisation in Exercise Science and Sport Management.

In 2016, Scipio was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Wiley College, Texas where he excelled on and off the court. In 2017, he was recognised by Wiley and the Red River Athletic Conference for his academic excellence in maintaining a 3.0 GPA for the 2016-2017 academic year. The following year, he was one of eleven (11) athletes selected on Wiley’s ‘First Team’ for excelling in the classroom, as well as on the field of the play. He was the only basketball student-athlete to make the ‘First Team’ list that year. He was also awarded the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is granted to college Juniors and Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher -- Scipio ended his final year at Wiley with a 3.9 GPA.

While at SIUE, he served as a Graduate Assistant Coach of the Men’s Basketball team. Scipio also holds a Bachelor in Education with specialisation in Early Childhood Development which he attained at Wiley College.
