Former UTT Netball Players Called Up for National Duty

Past UTT Patriots Netball players, Jameela McCarthy, Oprah Douglas, Shaquanda Greene-Noel, Kalifa McCollin (Captain), Aniecia Baptiste, Crystal-Ann George (Vice-Captain) and Samantha Wallace were selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago's National Senior Women Netball team that is currently in Jamaica for the Margaret Beckford Sunshine Series. The technical staff also consists of past UTT walk-on athlete Kemba Duncan (Assistant Coach), UTT's Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coordinator, Angel Ottley (S&C Coach), and former UTT student-athlete, Ashelle Legall (Team Manager). The team is led by Althea McCollin, who performed the role of Assistant Coach to UTT in the past.

The "Calypso Girls" left the shores of Trinidad on 13th October, 2021 to participate in the competition which consists of a tri-series tournament versus the Jamaica National Senior Women Netball team. The first two games of the three-game series were played on 16th and 19th October, 2021. In the second match-up, Baptiste was named the "Most Valuable Player" for Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Netball Association (TTNA), the Series is being used as a measurement in preparation for major upcoming tournaments in 2022. The final game is scheduled for 20 October, 2021.
