Former UTT Patriots Basketball player, Patrick Scipio, has been offered the position of Graduate Assistant Coach of the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Men’s Basketball team. The former UTT Men’s Basketball captain is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Kinesiology - Sport and Exercise Psychology at SIUE. In 2015, he graduated from UTT with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies with specialisation in Exercise Science and Sport Management. Scipio also holds a Bachelor in Education with specialisation in Early Childhood Development.

Additional Information:

• Patrick came to UTT in 2010 and completed the Pre-University Programme (PUP) in 2011. He also completed the Certificate in Sport Studies programme in 2012 and the Bachelor in Sport Studies in 2015.
• He averaged 22.5 points per game in his final year at UTT in the 2015 North Zone Basketball League, where UTT finished third overall.
• Patrick Scipio was awarded an athletic scholarship in September 2016 to Wiley College, Texas. In 2018, he graduated from Wiley with a Bachelor of Education with specialisation in Early Childhood Development.
• In 2017, he was recognised by Wiley and the Red River Athletic Conference for his academic excellence in maintaining a 3.0 GPA for the 2016-2017 academic year.
• In 2018, he was one of eleven (11) athletes selected on Wiley’s ‘First Team’ for excelling in the classroom, as well as the field of the play. He was the only basketball student-athlete to make the ‘First Team’ list that year.
• In 2018, he was also awarded the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is for all juniors and seniors with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Scipio ended his final year at Wiley with a 3.9 GPA.
