UTT’s Teniel Campbell in her debut at the Elite Caribbean Road Cycling Championships, went down in the history books as the first female cyclist to medal at these Championships.

Starting 3rd of 15 starters, Campbell set the winning time earlier of 34mins 39.76 seconds to complete the 22km course at an average speed of 38 km/h. Her time wasn’t rivaled by any of the other ladies on that day, with Campbell’s time being 2.25 seconds faster than her closest competitor in Laura Gueppois and Christel Martinez, both of Guadeloupe.

On behalf of the University and the Academy of Sport we extend congratulations to Ms. Campbell on her achievement.
