The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) partnered with STORK Technical Services Ltd. for the development of the "Technical Skills Accelerator Programme", launched on April 8th, 2015. This programme will take the form of a series of training seminars, designed to develop young minds headed for industry employment and entrepreneurial activity. Both parties will cooperate with respect to areas of knowledge, technology sharing, professional education, research and development, training and entrepreneurship activities. The Accelerator Programme aims to produce UTT engineering graduates who are experienced, work-ready and confident.

The relationship between UTT and STORK was also cemented with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Present at the Launch/Signing to address the audience of stakeholders, students and staff from UTT and STORK, was Senator the Honourable Fazal Karim, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST). Minister Karim welcomed STORK to the UTT family and congratulated both institutions on their collaborative work with respect to the Accelerator Programme, which he stated would allow students to be "both certified and well qualified". He reminded the students in the audience that their "present position is not [your] final destination" and explained that through the newly launched programme, they (the students) are "meeting industry demands even before graduating". Minister Karim further expounded on exciting future initiatives to be spearheaded by the University, including a Ministry-sponsored Solar House for research and public education, currently under construction at the UTT Point Lisas Energy Campus.

Also present was Mr. Philip Vilain, Country Manager at STORK, who stated that the new programme would make its participants "fit for purpose; ready for work". He pointed out that STORK, which is an international provider of Energy Support Services, is strongly committed to safety and extending the implementation of safe practices through proper training. He thanked UTT for allowing STORK to "lay the right foundation" for their students and expressed his desire that the present partnership "grow from strength to strength."
