The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in  Innovation, Manufacturing Management and Entrepreneurship (IMME) and Innovation Design Entrepreneurship (IDE),  have included a course entitled TOUR 6002 International Study Tour as a component of the programme. The aim of this course is to allow students to visit countries where there are industries worth mimicking and implementing in Trinidad & Tobago. Furthermore, students and staff may explore the possibilities for entrepreneurial opportunities. This year the International Study Tour is focusing on Costa Rica with its reputation for technological innovation in the areas of renewable energy, agro-processing, eco-tourism, manufacturing, logistics and operations and supply chain management. The tour takes places from Monday 6 May to Friday 10 May, 2024.

This faculty-led study tour to Costa Rica will give students the exposure needed to inspire them as future entrepreneurs. It is expected that the study tour will allow students to immerse themselves in a different business environment, learn from and compare international approaches, and to develop their networks and connections as they advance their research projects. The international experience can also contribute to the non-academic life of the student by expanding their cultural learning experience, increasing their employability, and advancing their career trajectory.

In this regard, the MME Unit and both the IMME and IDE programmes remain committed to UTT’s strategic imperative to “Increase partnerships with other research bodies and industry, building UTT’s brand internationally and creating value in teaching, research and entrepreneurship.”
