UTT Patriots Athletics student-athlete, Umar Sandy, has earned his first national call-up, being selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Senior Championships in the Bahamas from August 15–17, 2025.

Sandy's selection comes after his performance at the 2025 National Gas Company (NGC) National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago (NAAATT) Open Championships, on August 3, 2025 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain.

Competing in the Men's Discus Throw, Sandy delivered a personal best mark of 55.74m, surpassing the NACAC qualifying standard. He was the reigning back-to-back national champion, having won the event in 2023 and 2024.
