THE UNIVERSITY of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) extends congratulations to Rondel Hunte, who secured four (4) gold medals at this year's IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Alberta, Canada. Hunte, who is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Engineering, emerged the winner in his division from a field of 15 competitors. He also holds the Junior World Record title in a number of categories.

Hunte admits that balancing training and school can be a bit difficult at times but with prioritisation of what's important at this stage of his career, he is aware that he must sacrifice things of enjoyment in an effort to devote himself physically and mentally to his training and studies. He lauds the assistance of his lecturers at UTT, who understand his role as both a student and athlete.

When asked about his future aspirations, Hunte replies, "As I become a higher level athlete year by year, many times it seems impossible to balance work, training and fulfilling my true potential as an athlete. That being said, I am really passionate about technology and networking. Fitness and strength is also something I love. For now my focus is just on being the best I can be in both fields and seeing where God guides me in the future."

With the sky as the limit, Rondel is preparing for the Arnold Classic Championships and the World Classic Championships in Sweden in 2019. Currently, he is ranked 12th overall through all weight classes and age groups with his sights set on becoming number 1 at next year's World Championships. Well done Rondel!
