Approximately forty-two (42) new and returning non-national students participated in The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT's) Annual International Student Welcome Reception held at UTT Chaguanas Campus on Wednesday 23rd October 2019. Students from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, Botswana and Nigeria to name a few were officially welcomed by UTT's President, Professor Sarim Al-Zubaidy.

The Reception provided students, the unique opportunity to meet and connect with other international students.

Professor Al-Zubaidy recognised the students' choice for overseas study and stated that "UTT was especially proud of its highly qualified faculty, its entrepreneurial drive and the curriculum's incorporation of service learning, with the ultimate focus being the holistic development of each student." Professor Al-Zubaidy encouraged students to be persistent and committed in all they do, "as success must be considered as a journey, rather than a destination."

Professor Marlon Knights, Assistant Vice-President - Research Impact and Postgraduate Studies, reassured students UTT would provide them with the required support for their acclimatisation in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Executive Vice President of UTT's Student Guild, Ms. Viviana Chaseau announced the launch of the International Student Society, a club that would comprise of all the international students of UTT. It will serve as a forum for networking and support to our international student community.

At the Reception, the International Students were treated to a cultural performance by UTT's Faculty member, Krisson Joseph. They also had the opportunity to taste an array of local food and delicacies as well as to participate in ice-breaking activities and games.

As the National University, UTT continues to expand its reach beyond our borders in order to provide high quality global education.
