Earlier in June, The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) welcomed Dr. Angelo Belcastro, Professor and Chair of the School of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health, and Ms. Julie Hard, Manager, International Relations, both of York University, Canada.

The team was welcomed by Professor Sarim Al-Zubaidy, President, UTT and Dr. Kerry Dollaway, Programme Leader, The Academy of Sport - Centre for Kinesiology, Physical Education and Sport.

The visitors also had the distinguished opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with the faculty and staff of the Academy and the International Office and Grant Funding Unit.

Over the past few years, members of the UTT community have collaborated with counterparts at York University for a number of varying activities including academic exchanges. In March 2018, UTT via the Academy for the Performing Arts (APA), entered into a formal exchange agreement with the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design at York University.  As a result of ongoing relationships, this visit was centered on continuation and expansion of institutional collaboration and student exchange agreements with a focus on 

The Academy of Sport - Centre for Kinesiology, Physical Education and Sport.

UTT recognises that formalised partnership opportunities create invaluable broad based benefits for our university community through exposure to global educational standards and best practices, networking, capacity building, research and curriculum development, cultural immersion, and personal and professional development.  

From a global perspective, these international interactions can also transcend preexisting perceptions and differences through public diplomacy, nurturing dialogue, mutual understanding and furthering bilateral relations not only between university communities, but also between cultures and countries. It is for this reason, increasing of institutional collaborations is a strategic priority.
