Regional Committee for Crystallography Selects Dr Varma Rambaran to Represent UTT

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) congratulates Dr Varma Rambaran, Associate Professor, Process Engineering on being selected to be a sitting representative for the University on the Caribbean Regional Committee for Crystallography (CRCC).

This committee was formed under Lightsources for Africa, the Americas, Asia, Middle East and Pacific (LAAAMP), to harmonise teaching and learning interventions, foster research collaborations, build human and infrastructural capacity in crystallography and related fields, and strengthen the region’s scientific network through collective action.

Members of the committee include representatives from the Mona, Cave Hill and St Augustine Campuses of the University of the West Indies (UWI), University of Technology, Jamaica (Utech, Ja), the University of Belize (UB), LAAAMP and UTT.

The committee was formed after an intensive training at UWI Mona Campus in the Fundamentals of Crystallography: Theory and Practice, facilitated by the Faculty of Science and Technology, UWI Mona Campus, the Caribbean Crystallography School, the Mona Academy of Science and Technology (MAST), and LAAAMP.

The University of Trinidad and Tobago commends Dr Rambaran on his appointment and looks forward to the contributions of the CRCC in the areas of materials science and structural chemistry in the Caribbean.
