The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) graduating students of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Digital Media Arts, along with students of Parallel14 Training Institute in Martinique, will present their final projects via UTT Toon Market's digital event.

UTT Toon Market is an annual event that showcases students projects and skills, attained during their time as a student of the University. The BFA pioneers will be the first group of students to graduate from the programme, leaving behind high expectations and huge shoes to fill for future students. These students will enter the Trinidad and Tobago workforce as experts in the field of animation, game design, music technology and digital arts.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Digital Media Arts is a four-year programme of fulltime study for those with a passion in this area. The programme encourages national and regional cultural context with a strong practical emphasis. It was designed to encourage students to acquire key animation, game art and music production skills which follow international industry standards and pipelines. The skills attained, with the support of industry experienced staff, allow them to plan, produce and complete their final year Capstone Projects while utilising industry standard practices and procedures using cutting-edge tools.

"This achievement was not without its challenges" said Camille Selvon Abrahams, Senior Instructor - DMA (Animation), UTT. "Of the four-year programme, two were spent under the restrictions of COVID19, working virtually, and not seeing peers in the flesh. Not only did students succeed in completing their projects, but they learnt new tools for the future of work. The pandemic forced us to work with the future in mind." Due to COVID19 restrictions, this will be the first time that UTT Toon Market will be an online event.
