This focus can be seen in UTT's use of the Co-op approach in the delivery of its programmes. The Co-op approach is a structured educational strategy that combines institutional learning with relevant practical experience in the workplace through cooperative job placements, which allows you to make a smooth transition into the world of work.

In today's competitive workplace, academic achievement is not enough. Employers place high emphasis on practical experience, and for many this can be the deciding factor in choosing to accept or reject an application.  Furthermore, the student is given the opportunity to sample varying career options in order to get a feel of what is the best fit for him/her. UTT's Career Development Unit has placed more than 80% of students in training positions.
