World Oceans Day (WOD) is celebrated every year on June 8.  In 2016, Dr. Reia Guppy was the keynote speaker of a WOD event at Pigeon Point Pavilion, hosted by the Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries, Tobago. Dr. Guppy presented on the Fate of Plastics, with effects ranging from debris, plastic consumption and physiological effects of leached chemicals through a variety of marine organisms. Dr. Guppy was sponsored by the Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries.
