The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) extends congratulations to fellow Alumni Professor Herbert Sukhu on his appointment as Associate Vice President – Research, at the Nature Science Research and Innovation Centre Inc. in Ontario, Canada. A distinguished faculty in Engineering Economics at the Engineering (ENG) Unit under OE Division, he is Professor and Head of the Minerals and Mining Engineering Department. He holds the additional position of Co-Chair of the Marketing Division and Continent Director (West Coast Africa and Caricom Region) with NSRIC Inc. (the Nature Science Research and Innovation Centre), London, Ontario, Canada. Prof. Sukhu’s involvement with NSRIC is very crucial for the institution which he achieved through his outstanding performance, dedication, and hard work. In recognition, he has been given responsibilities with full trust at some key positions of the institution including Chair for the Nature Science University in Toronto (NSUT) project. Prof. Sukhu is a Chartered, Professional, Registered Engineer and Geologist with the British Engineering Council, Bermudian Professional Engineers, and Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago. Further, he has significant achievements in applied scientific and engineering research of over 40+ years relating to mineral resources research, development and governance, application of techno-economics, dissemination of environmental knowledge to help make sustainable development goals (SDGs) a reality by 2030, and expertise in process, petroleum, mining and quarrying engineering and geology. Prof. Sukhu has numerous publications and presentations with several reputable journals and conferences including UNITAR, in the field of techno-economics of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons and mineral (metallic and construction materials) algorithms for mining and product conversion defining new extraction ecosystems with the CDI ACP of Brussels, UNITAR and the Informa Conference Group. Prof. Sukhu has provided solution leadership and is recognised for outstanding services in education, training and technology development, and innovative engineering economic contributions for global mineral resources development. NSRIC supports his initiatives in the expansion of knowledge dissemination globally. His involvement with NSRIC is well-recognised and respected within the institution, and beyond.
