The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PETROTRIN. This agreement marks an official consolidation of an already fruitful relationship between both entities. To date, UTT has customised a number of training programmes for PETROTRIN through its Professional Education Unit, including:

• Fundamentals of Safe Operation of High Voltage Electrical Systems;
• Well Test Design and Analysis;
• Basic Drilling Completions and Workovers;
• High Voltage Cable Jointing and Termination;
• Advanced Supervisory Management; &
• Sandstone Reservoir

This rigorous training regime has resulted in more than 140 PETROTRIN employees receiving their requisite training at UTT.  According to Mr. Khalid Hassanali, President of PETROTRIN, This [MoU] "Facilitates a marriage between intellectual skills and manual skills needed for PETROTRIN to remain competitive". Acting President and Provost of UTT, Dr. Fazal Ali, confirmed that signing the MoU was one more instance of UTT fulfilling its mandate as the only National University.
