UTT's Sport and Recreation Unit (SRU) embarked on an initiative that was the first of its kind in the University's twenty-year history. On April 20, 2024 UTT hosted a Windball Cricket Corporate Competition at UTT O'Meara Sporting Facility with the participation of nine (9) organisations and institutions, including UTT.

The event concept was created to encourage social interaction and networking amongst staff and entities in a fun, enjoyable environment while promoting recreational and friendly competition between organisations.

The participating institutions included the Ministry of Sport and Community Development (MSCD), the Ministry of Health (MOH), Caribbean Airlines, Ernst & Young Global Limited (EY), First Citizens Bank (FCB), the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC), The National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT), Ramps Logistics and UTT. Each team had to have a minimum of one female player on the field of play for each match.

With medical personnel, umpires, scorers, music, equipment, good weather, and a well-maintained field courtesy the expertise of UTT's groundsmen, everything was in place for the representative teams to take the pitch.

The teams were supported by friends, family and colleagues who came out in their numbers with flags, horns, and refreshments, which added to the vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

Teams were seeded into three (3) groups with the winners of each group and the best overall second place advancing to the semi-finals. UTT won its first match but was unable to make it out of the group stage.

NIBTT, NGC, Ramps Logistics and FCB emerged from the round-robin stage into the semi-finals with NIBTT and FCB sealing their position in the title match. Led by former UTT Patriots Cricket student-athlete and UTT graduate, Randy Mahase, FCB came out victorious to take home the 2024 UTT Windball Cricket Corporate Competition title.

The University thanks all UTT staff and organisations that contributed to the event's success.
