In its capacity as the premiere Caribbean address for training in the performing arts, UTT's Academy for the Performing Arts runs an extensive series of over fifty events throughout the academic year which  culminates in APAFEST - The Performing Arts Festival, a series of public assessments which unites the students of all the performing and production disciplines.  APAFEST challenges them to rise to professional standards as an annual rite of passage.

APAFEST 2018 also served as a fundraising event for Searchlight, a non-profit company which supports young people in and through the performing arts, working regularly with the Academy for the Performing Arts in Primary and Secondary schools country-wide.
