UTT lead going into break

ACTION in the Courts All Sectors Netball League (ASNL) will take a break for the Carnival season, following matches in the Alternative Division Y last Thursday.
 
Play will resume on Thursday February 26, with games in the Championship Division.
 
Going into the break, University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) lead the four-club Championship Division standings with three wins and a loss from four games.
 
League champions Defence Force are in second spot with two victories, a loss and a tie.
 
Former title-holders Fire Service are in third place with the same record as the Army-Coast Guard combination, while winless Police are at the bottom with four losses.
 
In the last round of matches played in the Alternative Division Y, Cavaliers registered two wins going into the break.
 
In their latest triumph on Thursday, Cavaliers beat Prison 51-19, with goal attack Cherryell McIntosh scoring 24 of 34 attempts.
 
Other good efforts came from GA Debra Bain (15 of 18) and goal shoot Ayanna Peters (12 of 18).
 
For Prison, GS Ivy Davis hit ten from 15 attempts, GS Ayanna O'Neil had a handful from a dozen tries and GA Shenelle Rollock pitched in with four from six.
 
Earlier in the week, Cavaliers turned back Defence Force 44-16 on Tuesday. GA Debra Bain missed ten from 44 chances for the winners, whose other provider was GS Cherryell Mc Intosh, with ten of 26.
 
GA Donna Chase (nine in two dozen), GA Makeda Pierre (seven of 19) and GS Cheryl Ann Warren (one from a handful) were the scorers for Defence Force, who were losers again on Thursday.
 
They were burnt 37-34 by Fire in a very tight game.
 
GS Tricia Roberts had 22 from 43 chances for the winners, while GA Chrisarlene Murrell knocked down 11 of 13 and GA Rhonique Williams had four from nine.
 
For Defence Force, GA Donna Chase missed four times from 22 opportunities and GS Cheryl Ann Warren 13 from 29.
 
Bermudez stopped Fire 52-32 to finish at the top of the table with four successes and a loss from a handful of outings.
 
GS Petal Wilkins had 44 of 52 attempts for Bermudez, GA Jocelyn Marcelle pitched in with six of eight and GA Indra Antoine two from two.
 
GS Chrisalene Murrell with 12 from 28, GA Rhonique Williams 11 of 21 and GS Tricia Roberts nine of 20 were the contributors for Fire.
 
And in the Retro Division on Monday, Police A worked over Police B 31-26 to take the lead with a perfect record of five wins.
 
GA Beverly Rodgers hit 13 from 17 shots and GS Beverly Hernandez converted 18 of 23.

For Police B, GS Euphemia Huggins attempted 32 shots and landed 23 of them, GA Lystra Simmons scored a pair from half-dozen opportunities, while GA Peggy Ann Brown missed two from three.
 
The game between Harlem and Fire was postponed to a date to be determined in order to facilitate members' attendance at a funeral.
