The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) is proud to have played a meaningful role in the success of the inaugural KFC Trinidad & Tobago Colonel's 1K & 5K, which aimed to raise funds in support of charitable and social initiatives, with particular emphasis on food security and community assistance across Trinidad and Tobago. The event which took place April 11, attracted over 2,500 adult participants, and 220 "Chicky Runner" child participants.
Through exemplary contributions of staff from the Sports and Recreation Unit, this landmark event exemplified excellence and professionalism. UTT's impact was evident from the start of the event, as gym instructors Lathalia Homer and Kiron Simmons led dynamic, high-energy warm-up sessions for both the 1K and 5K races. Their engaging delivery not only energised participants but also set a positive tone for the day's activities. Event organisers commended the warm-up sessions, citing their quality and overall contribution to the event's success.

Further underscoring UTT's strong presence, the top two overall finishers in the 5K event were UTT High-Performance Track and Field Athletes. Tafari Waldron secured first place overall, completing the course in an impressive 16 minutes and 16.6 seconds, and earning a cash prize of TTD$1,500.00. Jayden Alexander followed closely in second place overall, recording a time of 16 minutes and 52.3 seconds, finishing just 35.7 seconds behind the winner.
Both athletes are currently enrolled in the Centre for Kinesiology, Physical Education and Sport, reflecting the University's commitment to academic excellence alongside elite athletic performance.
