Lighting Students taking the Stagecraft II course at The Academy for the Performing Arts have the opportunity to practise the various practical skills associated with being part of a lighting crew in our classroom lab. These skills include correctly hanging and circuiting stage lights, setting up a basic lighting system, and learning how to operate a lighting console. Students are also given tasks in which they must work as a team, perform tasks safely and learn how to be efficient. An important part of the experience is the application of concepts discussed in the lectures, since seeing theoretical principles in action helps reinforce the lecture portion of the class.
