Dr. Phil Anderson B.A. (Hons.), D.Prof., FNI, MCIArb., MEWI, AMAE, Master Mariner, has been appointed by The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) as Professor in Practice to head the Faculty of Maritime Studies at the UTT Chaguaramas Campus. He will take up his position on 01 June, 2015.

Originally from the United Kingdom, he brings with him over forty-six (46) years of experience working in maritime related industries. He served at sea as a Master Mariner in the British Merchant Navy and also worked in the marine insurance sector, in marine casualty investigations, as well as in the legal sector. Dr. Anderson has also had academic appointments as Visiting Maritime Professor in universities around the world.

Widely regarded internationally as a leading authority on maritime safety and operational risk management, Dr. Anderson will bring to UTT Maritime Studies a wealth of valuable practical experience as well as academic knowledge to help students prepare for a career in the maritime sector, whether it be working on board ships or in the related shore-based industries and services.
