Celebrating innovation and excellence, The Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) is a platform for students and graduates of The Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design (CAFD) at UTT to showcase their talent to a wider audience, build new contacts at the festival and promote their work to leading industry figures in support of their future careers.
A group of six (6) students at CAFD have responded to the invitation and will make a fashion film submission by May 31st. They are supported by the Programme Leader, CAFD alumni and local film producers.
ASFF invites emerging filmmakers pushing the boundaries of Fashion Film forward. Taking steps towards a new filmic and stylistic way of storytelling, Fashion Film is far more than a glossy poster, questioning concepts of fashion and aesthetics in today’s world.
The ASFF, founded in 2011, is an international film festival which takes place annually in York, UK, at the beginning of November. It’s a celebration of independent film from around the world, and an outlet for supporting and championing filmmaking.
The festival is a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recognised short film festival. This means that if a short film is screened or accepted into two or more of the BAFTA recognised festivals, it may be eligible for a BAFTA award.
The festival programme is curated and culturally rich. ASFF believes that great filmmaking has the power to change lives. Films have gone on to win awards at BAFTA and the Oscars as well as other festivals such Sundance, SXSW amongst others.
Each year, ASFF attracts thousands of entries. One of the UK’s most exciting site-specific events, ASFF showcases over 400 international films from emerging and established filmmakers in various venues across the city of York. The programme also includes industry master classes, networking sessions and panel discussions.
ASFF has invited CAFD to submit entries in Fashion Films. The 8th BAFTA-Recognised Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) is looking for filmmakers who are pushing the boundaries of Fashion Film forward, to showcase their work to a wider audience.
