Modelled after the best design schools in the world, the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design is the first of its kind in the Caribbean. With the collaboration of professionals from Paris, London, New York and members of Trinidad and Tobago’s fashion fraternity, CAFD trains future designers and marketers in the art and business of fashion with an eye towards developing an emerging fashion industry in the West Indies.

Through structured courses designed to promote analytical, critical and conceptual development, the programme supports each student’s learning experience by emphasising creativity and the acquired business skill-sets needed for industry or entrepreneurship. CAFD recently hosted its first senior thesis show, “A Cut Above: Designers Debut,” which showcased the talent and creativity of the final-year students, many of whom have an expressed interest in developing their own fashion businesses.

As an entrepreneurial University, UTT continues to do its part not only to develop and hone natural talent, but also to provide avenues for its students to express their entrepreneurial aspirations.
