UTT is proud to announce that The Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design (CAFD) will host a week of fashion events to commemorate the University's tenth anniversary.
In 2008, UTT launched the first tertiary level fashion design programme in the Caribbean region. It was based on the philosophy that the development of a student's individual creativity should always be supported by a strong foundation of techniques and informed thinking. The goal of CAFD is to educate and train aspiring designers and managers in the art and business of fashion, with an eye towards developing a Caribbean fashion industry.
The accolades of recent CAFD graduate performances at both local and international fashion events, as well as the increasing number of non-national applicants, is a testament to the stellar leadership and success of the Academy.
During the last four (4) years, students explored their creativity with many courses that provided the foundation needed for designers. Many successful graduates are now budding entrepreneurs and international upcoming fashion designers. CAFD is well on its way to becoming one of the top fashion schools among many international competitors.
With a curriculum consisting of rigorous classroom teaching, interactive and interdisciplinary work and a balance between visual and liberal studies, CAFD offers a structured programme of learning that is created to promote analytical, critical and conceptual development.
With the talent and dreams of Trinidad & Tobago's future designers and the expertise and vision of CAFD, graduates can and will reach global levels.

The skills gained in a typical professional atelier such as: Pattern Drafting, Draping, Fashion Drawing, Textile Design, Design Research, and Conceptual Design gives them the tools needed to conceive their collections of six looks entitled, "Thesis Collection". The first part of this show will be hosted by a group of CAFD's 2012 and 2013 Alumni in a Fashion Showcase.
