The Suggestion Box, officially launched on 10th Dec 2010, was implemented to allow the university community to voice their suggestions and concerns on improving life at UTT. The submissions received are logged into an in-house custom database and then assessed on a variety of factors including cost, ease of implementation and practicality. The most promising submissions are then forwarded to the relevant personnel for implementation.

Submissions are also collected via physical forms, available from Suggestion Boxes placed on various UTT campuses, and from direct emails to the Suggestion Box.

The benefits of the Suggestion Box include:

• A quick to implement, web based form
• Allowing a wide range of employees/students to make their contributions
• Encouraging creativity
• Providing a steady stream of low-budget, quick-to-implement ideas that constantly improve UTT’s business

Database Systems for the Suggestion Box   
The Suggestions Box is supported by a custom, in-house database, Suggestion_IS.
The Suggestion_IS application allows:

• Storage of all submissions (physical and electronic)
• Tracking of the progress of each suggestion.
• Reporting on various statistics on suggestions received
