The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Support (TLIS) is in support of UTT's goal to deliver high quality programmes throughout Trinidad and Tobago, in an attempt to connect learners and teachers in a vibrant community. Accordingly, the Centre aims to prepare instructors to teach in a networked world, thereby enabling them to be effective in virtual and physical environments. To support learners throughout the country, TLIS also provides programmes and services that assist instructors in the design and delivery of synchronous and asynchronous courses through face-to-face teaching and distance learning, hence leveraging educational technologies to scaffold learning.

In an effort to ensure that instructors and learners are supported, the Centre partners and engages with appropriate Units, thus providing the expertise which will enable UTT to make sound decisions on investments in technology and infrastructure that support the learning enterprise.

Finally, in support of UTT's research mission, the Centre is seen as an innovative force, creating a space where instructors can learn new ways to reach students by encouraging experimentation and scholarly approaches to teaching.
