In February 2008, a team of educators from the University of British Columbia (UBC) met with The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) stakeholders at each campus to discuss the University's needs regarding technology enhanced teaching, learning and research. Their report and recommendations resulted in the establishment of The Learning Centre (TLC) in September 2008, which is now known as the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Support (TLIS). Since its inception, the Centre has been exercising its mandate to leverage current and emerging learning technologies and teaching methods so as to enable UTT instructors to develop innovative and socially responsive programmes. These programmes are delivered throughout Trinidad and Tobago and the broader Caribbean region via face-to-face teaching, distributed and blended learning.
