The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and the Trinidad and Tobago Table Tennis Association (TTTTA) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to encourage mutual cooperation between the University and TTTTA’s development programmes and national teams. The collaboration will also facilitate technical support between both parties in an effort ensure the continued development of table tennis in Trinidad and Tobago.

At the signing, Ian Pritchard, Senior Manager, Sport and Recreation Unit, made mention of UTT’s lineup of coaches in different sporting disciplines who have achieved major international success, especially in recent times. Among them is Ms Aleena Edwards, UTT’s table tennis coach, who is also an International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Certified Level 3 Table Tennis Coach, and an ITTF Certified International Course Conductor. Pritchard added that resources such as these contribute to UTT’s premier position among local academic institutions who recognise the significant link between education and sports. This concept is mirrored by the University’s longstanding dedication to recruiting student-athletes, many of whom, have gone on to represent Trinidad and Tobago.

Through this partnership, both UTT and TTTTA show their commitment to fostering talent and promoting excellence in academia and sport, throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
