This third annual APA celebration of Diwali once again presents students and faculty of the APA Dance Studio and the Certificate in Indian Classical Music (Sangeet Prathama). A brief introduction to the significance of Diwali will be followed by a variety of vocal, instrumental and dance presentations.
Diwali or Deepawali is the Festival of light, celebrated every year in the autumn. The main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu month of Kartik. One of the most popular festivals, it spiritually signifies victory of Light over Darkness, Good over Evil, Knowledge over Ignorance and Hope over Despair.
Its celebration includes countless lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows around temples and buildings in communities. A variety of sweets is traditionally prepared and shared.
