The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago’s (TATT) three (3) day workshop themed “2015 ICTs 4 Skills Development & Entrepreneurship for Young People” was a rousing success! The workshop was attended by over 70 aspiring entrepreneurs eager to receive guidance and wisdom in order to build the foundational skills necessary for success in the rapidly evolving global ICT marketplace.
The attendees’ faces lit up as lead presenter Professor Abhijit Bhattacharya as well as presenters from The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and the Intellectual Property Office exposed them to immeasurable knowledge during interactive presentations. It was rewarding to witness the development of actual entrepreneurial ventures of the youth participants during the workshops. The high point of this event was a pitch competition where the future captains of industry sought to win top honours by proposing their venture concepts to a panel of esteemed adjudicators.
Attendees were privy to a preview of the TEN Talks, where uSTART entrepreneurs Deidre Lee Kin presented on Trinipedia (Augmented Reality) and Dingole E-Commerce Services on days 1 and 2 respectively. On the 3rd day, the company Dtectt presented on cyber/data security and was represented by Jason Joseph and Roy Chen.
Mrs. Judith Morrain-Webb was the lead facilitator and directed the crucial ice-breaker session on day 1 of the workshop, along with daily opening and closing sessions. She further provided valuable guidance to the participants with respect to their various assignments.
The UTT delegation, led by Inshan Meahjohn, Professor Abhijit Bhattacharya and Mrs. Judith Morrain-Webb won the ultimate prize- watching Trinidad and Tobago’s best and brightest gain the foundation of ICTs 4 Skills Development & Entrepreneurship and become focused learners, ready to put fantastic ideas into practice.
