The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) received specialised accreditation from the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST), an international accreditation agency. The following programmes offered by UTT's Centre for Maritime and Ocean Studies (CMOS) are accredited by IMarEST for the maximum period of five (5) years:

• Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Coast and Ocean Sciences from 2016
• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Coastal and Ocean Management from 2018
• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Nautical Science/Maritime Operations from 2016
• Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Integrated Coastal and Ocean Management from 2016
• Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Operational Maritime Management from 2016

An international professional body and learned society for all marine professionals, the IMarEST ensures that students and faculty members are provided with ongoing professional development opportunities and mentorships that allow for effective participation in innovative research, thereby allowing for sustained capacity building and technology transfer.

This accreditation status assures both students and employers that their qualifications are of the highest standard and comparable to that of international programme offerings.

The UTT Chaguaramas Campus, home of the CMOS programmes, is an approved examination centre for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI).
