On Carnival Tuesday, March 08, 2011, at 5:20 p.m. the Oxford University’s Cricket team touched down at the Piarco International Airport. The team will be here until March 21, 2011 to participate in a cricket tour organised by The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). They were greeted at the airport by former West Indies batsman, Gordon Greenidge, the Executive Manager, and Assistant Sport Coordinator of UTT’s Academy of Sport and Leisure Studies, Kenneth Butcher and Moriba Baker respectively.

The tour includes a series of T20 friendly matches with UTT and other local cricket teams such as Merryboys, Clarke Road and the Prison Services Cricket Clubs. This camp will allow the UTT High Performance Cricket team to play against the best.

In the inaugural match between Oxford University and the UTT High Performance Team on Thursday March 10, 2011 at O’Meara, the visitors defeated the hosts by 15 runs. The next encounter between the two teams takes place on Monday, 14th of March 2011 at the O’Meara grounds. All UTT staff members and students are urged to come out and support the home team!
