Laboratory safety audits provide an opportunity for departments, faculty, students, and staff to reemphasize safety by focusing on safety topics specific to each research laboratory.  Safety audits assess the overall safety in the laboratory.

Audits are performed to evaluate the labs conformance to the OSH Act 2004 (as amended) of Trinidad and Tobago, along with relevant standards and codes. Audits are vital to identifying and addressing potential hazards and unsafe conditions in the laboratory.

External Safety Audits of labs were completed in early March 2013. All matters related to Health & Safety of Staff and students using the lab were carefully analyzed. Those labs included the:

• Chemical Engineering Laboratory
• Materials Characterization laboratory
• Computer Simulation Laboratory
• Chemistry Laboratories (San Fernando Technical Institute  & Point Lisas Campuses)
