On September 26, 2012 UTT was notified by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) of the successful accreditation of the following programmes:

• National Engineering Technician Diploma in Chemical Engineering
• Bachelor of Applied Science in Process Engineering
• Master of Engineering in Process Engineering

IChemE is a UK based global professional membership organisation for chemical engineers that has a long history of accrediting chemical engineering programmes at over 60 higher education institutions worldwide. IChemE also awards Chartered Chemical Engineer status to engineers demonstrating professional competence and commitment to chemical engineering.
Being awarded this mark of excellence is validation of the Process Engineering team's commitment to continuous improvement. Congratulations and expressions of gratitude have poured in from students, staff, the wider UTT community and the Chemical and Process Industry. One Industry Advisor is quoted as saying, "Congratulations on this achievement which definitely marks a major milestone in the development of Process Engineering at UTT. History has certainly been made and this is a reflection of you and your staff, and the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment shown by all".
The first of its kind in the Caribbean, the Master of Engineering (M.Eng) Process Engineering degree produces graduates that have fulfilled the academic requirement for Chartered Engineer. UTT recognises the desire of our local industries for graduates who seek professional qualification beyond the classroom. The MEng degree is therefore one of many ways in which UTT is currently meeting the needs of the national community.
According to UTT's Vice President of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness, Dr. Ruby Alleyne, "Specialised accreditation of our engineering programmes adds value not only because it provides an assurance of the quality of our graduates to the local industry, but also because it improves their professional profile on the world stage and enhances opportunities for mobility in the regional and global labour markets".
