Huawei Technologies (T&T) Ltd. facilitated an ISO27001 Lead Auditor Training programme from March 17 to 27, 2025, hosted at The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) John S. Donaldson Port-of-Spain Campus.

The in-person training, comprised nine sessions totalling thirty-six hours and was delivered by David Mondragón Tapia of NYCE Mexico. Mr Tapia enhanced the learning experience through engaging case studies and practical exercises, ensuring that the sessions were both impactful and informative.

NYCE's mission is to develop standards and assess compliance to promote rapid and transparent market access, with a strong emphasis on consumer safety, public health, environmental protection and public transportation.  The organisation's vision is to be a leading entity with an international presence, recognised across Latin America for best practices in Conformity Assessment services.

Huawei, a global leader in next-generation telecommunications networks, generously sponsored the training, providing complimentary access to five UTT staff members.  The remaining seats were allocated to professionals from various ministries and private sector organisations, bringing the total number of participants to twenty-four.

This initiative builds on a previous training held in August 2024, during which two Senior Instructors from UTT's Centre for Information and Communication Technology, Mr Mahindrapersad Koon and Ms Melissa Ramsubir, also benefitted from Huawei's sponsorship.

UTT expresses its sincere appreciation to Huawei for providing this valuable opportunity.  Participation in such training strengthens institutional capacity and deepens staff awareness of international standards, ultimately contributing to improved quality and excellence in all areas of our work.
