UTT Women Volleyball Team Win the Inaugural Caribbean Volleyball League

 In Volleyball, the UTT Women Volleyball Team competed as the only completely local team in the Inaugural Caribbean Volleyball League.  Despite what seemed to be a disadvantage on paper, the UTT Women rose to the occasion, with chants of "UTT TOTAL LOCAL," after every point and game. The totally local team showed great power and dominance as they won two of their five games in straight sets. In the finals, UTT played against the highly favoured Glamorgan which featured American pair, Andrea Justine Landi and Jessica Yanz along with Christine Anthony (Curacao), Lecia Brown (Jamaica) and Shari Matthews (Barbados). However, in a match that lasted 2hours and 37minutes, UTT proved to be a more polished, fitter, focused and determined team as they came from behind in every set to eventually win the game three sets to two. Former UTT student-athlete of Sport Studies Krystle Esdelle topped all athletes in the individual awards. Esdelle a National Athlete played with UTT while as a student-athlete at the club level for three years until she took up a professional contract in Germany, indicated that she was "always happy to return to assist her Coach and teammates."
