The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) congratulates student-athlete Samuel Humphreys on his outstanding performance at the recently concluded Arawak Senior Silver Bowl Table Tennis Tournament, where he secured third place in the Men's Singles competition and a runner-up finish in the Men's Doubles event.

 

Competing against some of Trinidad and Tobago's top senior table tennis players, Humphreys demonstrated exceptional skill, determination and composure throughout the tournament. After advancing from the group stage of the Men's Singles competition, he progressed through a series of challenging knockout matches.

 

One of the tournament's standout moments came in Round of 32, where Humphreys defeated fellow UTT student-athlete Arun Roopnarine 3 - 2. He followed this with a 3 - 1 victory over Joel Henry of WASA in the Round of 16 before securing a thrilling 3 - 2 quarterfinal win against Nikolai Barbour-Alexis of Blasters. Humphreys' impressive run concluded in the semifinals against eventual finalist Malik Gopaul of Crusaders, earning him a well-deserved third-place finish in the Men's Singles competition.

 

Adding to an already impressive tournament, Humphreys partnered with his father in the Men's Doubles competition. The father-son duo advanced to the final to claim a runner-up finish on Father's Day.

The tournament marks Humphreys' strongest performance at the senior level to date. Having completed his final year as a junior athlete in 2025, he has transitioned confidently into the senior ranks, continuing to establish himself as one of Trinidad and Tobago's emerging table tennis talents.
