The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) has selected The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) as one of the international recipients of its 2015 Outstanding Student Chapter Award. This prestigious award recognises SPE Chapters with exceptional programmes in industry engagement, operations and planning, community involvement, professional development and innovation.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International is the largest individual-member organisation serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. The organisation has over 140,000 members, 50,000 plus student members and more than 300 student chapters globally. These chapters are located around the world and provide an operating framework for society activities at a university level. The Outstanding Student Chapter Award is presented to the chapters whose programmes, activities, and levels of participation distinguish that chapter from others; it is an international distinction and the highest honour of its kind from this organisation.

All 2015 Outstanding Student Chapter recipients will be honored during the Student Awards Luncheon at SPE’s Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) in Houston, Texas, USA. Ms. Jeneisha Hernandez, UTT’s Chapter President, has been invited to attend this Awards Luncheon to represent the University. Congratulations are extended to Ms. Hernandez, members of UTT’s SPE Chapter and faculty sponsor Mrs. Yanitza Wilson-Ollivierre for their outstanding efforts, which have se rved to make this award a reality.
