The Diploma in Agriculture is geared towards providing sound theoretical and practical training in Animal Production, Crop Production, Agro-processing, Soil Science, Farm Business Management and many more. With its strong practical components integrated into most theoretical elements, students gain real-world experiences and practical skills through farm-laboratory exercises and visits to observe commercial farm operations. This programme is well-positioned to contribute to the achievement of food security in Trinidad and Tobago by filling the void in human capital within the agricultural sector, providing an ideal launchpad for those desirous of pursuing higher education in the field of Agriculture or engaging in entrepreneurial activities.

Full Time (Only) ; Two (2) years

• Passes in at least five (5) CSEC (CXC O’Level) General Proficiency (Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III) subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and English Language and a science subject. Agricultural Science double award is considered as two subjects. OR 
• Five (5) GCE O’ Levels inclusive of Mathematics and English Language at Grades A, B or C. OR 
• Completion of UTT’s Pre-University Programme (PUP) with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subject areas. OR 
• Successful completion of UTT Certificate in Food Technology 

Additional requirements:

• All students are required to submit a medical examination and must be vaccinated against rabies, hepatitis, tetanus and yellow fever
• Applicants may be interviewed to determine suitability for the programme

Note:

• Special facilities may be made for persons with physical disabilities
• Enrolment into the programme is not limited to the availability of dormitory space.
• Applicants should note that the courses Farming Practices I and II commence at 6.30 a.m. every morning. 

Mature Student Entry: 

• An applicant who does not satisfy all the stipulated minimum academic or technical qualifications for admission to the programme may be accepted as a Mature Student. He/she would need to possess the critical elements of the stipulated qualification and would be assessed by the UTT Programme Head as possessing a combination of qualifications and educational or experiential maturity to enable him/her to successfully participate in the programme.
