The Master of Education in Leadership and Advocacy in Early Childhood Care and Education aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and dispositions to become effective, efficient administrators of ECCE programmes and leaders of curriculum development and implementation. Students will develop the competencies to advocate for young children and their families, lead and grow teams for effective inclusive programme delivery as well as contribute to the sustainable and entrepreneurial development of ECCE services. The programme offers courses in Administration, Leadership, and Advocacy, delivered via a blended/hybrid mode.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in ECCE with GPA 2.50 (minimum) from an accredited tertiary institution, and

Three years’ experience as ECCE Teacher, Administrator, Head of Department, Curriculum Officers, Vice-Principal and/or Principal.

An updated resume, as well as a statement of intent, discussing personal and professional goals related to obtaining the degree.
The following applicants may be considered:

Holders of a first degree in Education with emphasis in any one of the related fields: Education Management; Primary School Curriculum and Pedagogy; Sociology and Psychology of Education; Physical Education; The Visual and Performing Arts; Language and Literacy Development; and Special Education.
Mature Entry:
An applicant who does not satisfy all the stipulated minimum academic qualifications for admission to the Programme may be accepted as a Mature Student. He or she would need to possess critical elements of the stipulated qualification and would be assessed by the UTT Programme Head and ECCE Discipline Leader for possession of a combination of qualifications and educational or experiential maturity to enable him/her to participate successfully in the programme.
Graduates of the M.Ed. (Leadership and Advocacy in Early Childhood Care and Education) at UTT will have teaching and non-teaching options. The primary option would involve teaching and administering programmes in the education system. Other related options include teaching at private institutions or in industry. A subset of teachers who complete the programme may wish to function in supervisory or other related roles. Some graduates may utilize their skills for self-employment/entrepreneurial purposes.
