Partners and Affiliates

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) is a partnership of Government, the private sector and international centres of excellence. UTT was formed in 2004 as a private non-profit entity in order to revolutionize tertiary level education in Trinidad and Tobago in support of the national development thrust towards achieving a more developed nation status.
UTT's objectives are to carry out state-of-the art academic programmes (including research and development activities in areas of strategic interest to Trinidad and Tobago) within an education system that must respond to global trends in technology developments and the knowledge society.
UTT has formed (or is forming) alliances with leading international academic institutions in order to facilitate its objectives in relation to the following sectors:

  • Manufacturing;
  • Energy and Processing;
  • Maritime;
  • Information and Communication Technologies; and
  • Construction.

For the purpose of ensuring that its objectives are achieved, a range of programmes have been developed and are increasing.  These programmes are based on curricula that are internationally recognized and accredited and have emanated from our strategic alliances with the following key partners:

To fulfill the goal of its national development thrust, UTT has embarked on increasing its collaboration agreements and has recently signed Memoranda of Understanding with the following institutions:

  • YARA Trinidad Limited (T&T) - Development of collaborative programmes of research, education, training and outreach
  • The University of Texas at Austin (USA) - Training and development in petroleum engineering programmes
